NDUGA - One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Para Raider Infantry Battalion 503/Mayangkara Kostrad, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in Nduga Regency, Papua Pegunungan Province. On Wednesday, 11 September 2024, the 503 Task Forces, mainly Batas Batu Post led by First Lieutenant Galih Nugroho, distributed free packages of basic necessities, including rice and instant noodles, to the Mumugu residents in the patrol area who experienced the flood disaster.

In his emphasis on the Soldiers, Lieutenant Colonel Gurbasa Samosir, Commander of the 503 Task Force, conveyed the importance of the Task Force's attention to the basic necessities of the community around the Post. Therefore, on that Wednesday, 1LT Galih and his Soldiers took advantage of their patrol by distributing free packages of basic necessities to the Mumugu residents, the flood victims. 1LT Galih conducted the activity after receiving a report from the Community Figures about the flood disaster that hit Mumugu Village, which resulted in difficulties earning food. The flood disaster occurred due to the Kenyam - Agats River overflow because of the high rainfall since early September.

While maintaining their focus on security, the Soldiers took the opportunity to communicate with the residents. The response from the Mumugu residents was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their happiness for the packages. After receiving the Soldiers' free packages, the residents’ joy was immediately visible from their smiles and laughter. One Papuan Mother, Mrs. Maria Menjeh, even said, " Praise God, thank you, Commander 503, for the help. God bless TNI", a powerful testament to the strong bond between the community and the Task Forces. This heartwarming response from the community not only underscores the impact of the Task Forces' efforts but also the unity and support in the disaster-affected area.

After receiving the activity report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, acknowledged the 503 Task Forces’ initiative to help the Mumugu residents who experienced the flood disaster. His words: "The 503 Task Forces' initiative is a testament to TNI's commitment to provide basic necessities for the community members to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region." This acknowledgment from the highest authority in HABEMA underscores the significant impact of such initiatives on the region's development. It instills profound hope and optimism about their potential to shape the region's future positively. It makes the Task Forces and the community feel recognized and appreciated for their efforts.
